In Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League 2026, the formidable batting lineup of the Rajasthan Royals will face off against the highly regarded bowling unit of the Gujarat Titans. This matchup promises to be captivating as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi goes head-to-head against premier bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan, a conflict that could shape the outcome of the match.
Sooryavanshi has consistently dismantled bowling attacks throughout the season, amassing 680 runs in 15 innings and setting significant records. He recently eclipsed Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a T20 league and narrowly missed out on the record for the fastest IPL century in a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Eliminator.
GT: The Best Bowling Attack of IPL 2026
As Sooryavanshi approaches Rabada and his peers, spectators will keenly observe this contest. The Gujarat Titans boast the leading bowling performance in the tournament, having secured 112 wickets in 15 matches—10 more than the second-ranked Rajasthan Royals. With a bowling average of 24, GT stands out, significantly outperforming the Royals. Their economy rate is recorded at 9.52, trailing only the Kolkata Knight Riders, who have a rate of 9.27. GT has allowed just five instances of 200-plus scores this season, the fewest among playoff teams.
GT’s impressive performance persists despite their setback against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, where they conceded 254 runs. The team’s success can be attributed to its effective bowlers.
All five of GT’s primary bowlers rank among the top 15 wicket-takers this season. Kagiso Rabada leads the pack with 26 wickets in 15 matches, tied for the most alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Rashid Khan has captured 19 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj has taken 17. Both Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna have contributed 15 wickets each.
RR: The Best Opening Side
The Rajasthan Royals are recognized as one of the best opening batting sides in the tournament. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s subpar performance, Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal have collectively accumulated 1,106 runs. Together, they have posted 747 runs for the opening wicket at an average of 49.8, ranking second among all teams, just behind GT. However, their scoring rate of 12.34 per over exceeds that of GT, which stands at 9.95—the third lowest in the tournament.
Rabada, Siraj, and Prasidh have excelled with their Test-match-style bowling, posing difficulties for opponents with their precise lines and lengths. Sooryavanshi’s ability to dominate various bowling lengths adds an exciting dynamic to this encounter. As these two powerhouse teams clash, the anticipation builds in New Chandigarh to see who will emerge victorious and secure a place in the final against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
