L&T Finance Holdings Limited is a diversified financial services company in India that offers a range of financial products and services. The company is led by a seasoned and high-caliber management team, which has been instrumental in driving product penetration across both urban and rural markets.

One key focus for L&T Finance is developing future-ready technology. Under the leadership of the new Managing Director, Sudipro Roy, the company has been implementing AI/ML-driven initiatives such as Project Cyclops for real-time credit underwriting and Project Nostradamus for predictive risk management. These initiatives have led to enhanced operational efficiency, with automation and AI helping to reduce turnaround times significantly.

In terms of asset quality, L&T Finance has maintained sound metrics, with the gross stage 3 (GS3) ratio at 3.19% and net stage 3 (NS3) at 0.8% in Q2 FY25. This has been achieved through conservative underwriting practices and a focus on low-risk segments. Notably, within the microfinance (MFI) segment, the company has taken steps to reduce exposure to high-leverage customers, with the proportion of the book with more than three lenders being ₹1,300 crore. This will be provided for in FY25, with a slight impact on earnings. Overall, L&T Finance has maintained a strong portfolio by focusing on low-indebtedness customers and ensuring disciplined risk management.

Looking ahead, we expect L&T Finance to deliver a healthy 17% AUM CAGR over FY24-27, which will drive profit before tax (PPoP) growth. As a result, we reiterate a Buy rating on the stock with a target price of ₹204.

However, it is important to note some key risks for L&T Finance, including the potential for higher-than-anticipated delinquencies in the MFI book and a general slowdown in economic activity that could impact growth.

In conclusion, L&T Finance Holdings Limited is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for financial services in India, supported by its strong management team, innovative technology initiatives, and sound asset quality. Investors looking for exposure to the financial services sector may consider adding L&T Finance to their portfolio.
