Post-Operation Sindoor: LeT Expands Influence Deep Within Pakistan

NEW DELHI: Following the actions of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, the United Nations-designated terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has reportedly relocated a significant portion of its operational and training infrastructure further into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, attempting to evade potential Indian military operations.

Satellite images, along with various photos and videos, confirm LeT’s construction of a new facility, designated Markaz Jihad-e-Aqsa, in the Lower Dir district, just 47 kilometers from the Afghan border. Construction commenced in July 2025, two months after Operation Sindoor. This facility is intended to serve as a replacement hub for LeT’s Jaan-e-Fidai Fidayeen unit following the destruction of the Markaz Ahle Hadith facility in Bhimber-Barnala by the Indian Army on May 7, 2025, according to Indian intelligence reports.

The imagery reveals that the facility spans over 4,600 square feet and is located adjacent to the recently constructed Jamia Ahle Sunnah mosque. An intelligence dossier indicates that the facility will be led by Nasr Javed, identified as one of the masterminds behind the 2006 Hyderabad blast in India. Additionally, Muhammad Yasin, known as Bilal Bhai, has been tasked with doctrinal instruction in jihad, while operational weapon training will be managed by Anasullah Khan.

Sources indicate that LeT is also planning to expand its pre-existing camps at Markaz-e-Khyber, Garhi Habibullah, and Batrasi. Notably, the distance between the new, under-construction camps of LeT and those of Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed is approximately four kilometers.
