NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 119th episode of his monthly radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, praised Isro, stating that it has achieved a significant milestone in space exploration. On January 29, India witnessed Isro’s 100th rocket launch when the GSLV-F15 rocket successfully placed the navigation satellite NVS-02 into orbit. He encouraged citizens to celebrate National Science Day by dedicating “One Day as a Scientist,” which he believes will spark curiosity in children and young adults about the field of science.

Reflecting on the nation’s accomplishments in space, Modi remarked, “As the Champions Trophy is currently captivating everyone’s attention, we all understand the excitement of attaining a century in cricket. However, today, my focus isn’t on cricket but on the remarkable century that India has achieved in the realm of space. Last month marked Isro’s 100th rocket launch, which is not merely a statistic, but a testament to our commitment to reach new heights in space science. Our journey in space commenced quite humbly, facing numerous challenges along the way, yet our scientists persevered and triumphed over them.”

He highlighted, “Over time, our list of achievements in space exploration has continuously expanded. From developing launch vehicles and the successful missions of Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and Aditya L1, to the historic feat of launching 104 satellites in a single mission, Isro’s accomplishments have been extensive. In the past decade, approximately 460 satellites were launched, many of which belong to other countries as well.”

Regarding the increasing role of women in the space industry, Modi commented, “The involvement of women in the space sector has been steadily increasing. It brings me great joy to witness that the space sector has captivated the youth. For those young individuals looking for thrilling and adventurous career options, the space field is becoming an excellent choice.”

Discussing National Science Day 2025, set for February 28, the Prime Minister noted that the enthusiasm and dedication of young people towards science is crucial. “Make an effort to spend one day as a scientist. Visit research laboratories, planetariums, or space centers on that day. This will enhance your curiosity about science. Alongside space, India is swiftly making strides in another domain: AI (Artificial Intelligence). My attendance at an AI summit in Paris highlighted the international recognition of India’s advancements in this field,” remarked PM Modi.

He also acknowledged a teacher from Telangana, Thodasam Kailash, who is utilizing AI technology in the creation of digital music to help safeguard tribal languages, including Kolami. His musical compositions have gained popularity among tribal communities. “The people of India are exceptional in their ability to adopt and apply new technologies,” he added.
