Outrage in Ghaziabad: Rape Accused Celebrated with Roadshow After Bail, Akhilesh Yadav Critiques BJP

A video from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, has surfaced, showing an alleged rape accused receiving a warm welcome from his supporters after being granted bail. The footage depicts supporters lifting the individual onto their shoulders while chanting slogans, resembling a celebration with handshakes, cheers, and smiling crowds.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Yogi Adityanath government, labeling the situation as indicative of the “true character of the ‘unrighteous BJP’.” Yadav expressed his disapproval on X, stating, “Nothing can be more reprehensible than the way in which the ‘rape accused’ senior official…has been welcomed with a shower of petals and garlands upon being granted bail.”

Yadav further remarked that the incident reflects a troubling dynamic within the ruling party, suggesting that “the honourable ones are weeding out their die-hard supporters in order to contest the next election independently.” He concluded by implying that the accused may soon be seen advocating for “women’s reservation.”

The incident raises significant concerns regarding societal attitudes towards allegations of sexual violence, particularly in the political context.
