Political tensions regarding the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) are expected to escalate as a parliamentary committee, led by Congress’s Digvijaya Singh, has summoned the chairperson of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the higher education secretary to provide updates. The committee meeting is scheduled for May 21 and aims to discuss the ongoing investigation into the leak of NEET examination question papers as well as review the K. Radhakrishnan committee report on potential reforms within the NTA.

In a separate development, Congress Rajya Sabha Member Jairam Ramesh has filed a privilege notice against Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Ramesh’s notice accuses Pradhan of “lowering the dignity of Parliament and Parliamentary committees” based on remarks he made in response to inquiries about the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
