Kejriwal Fires Back at BJP: ‘They Camped Outside My Home for Ravana—Their Affection Is Unmatched!’

The AAP National Convenor responded on Tuesday to the BJP’s critique of his comments regarding the Ramayana and Ravana, stating, “They seem to have a fondness for Ravana.”

In relation to his remarks on the Ramayana, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal elaborated, “Yesterday I mentioned that Ravana appeared as a golden deer, and Mother Sita desired that deer. They are claiming that it wasn’t Ravana (who took the form of a deer) but rather the demon Marichi. The entire BJP has staged protests outside my residence, demanding explanations for my alleged insult to Ravana. It appears they have a deep affection for Ravana. They have a demonic disposition.”

“I want to caution the residents in slums and impoverished areas of Delhi that these individuals will consume you like demons if they attain power.”

What did Kejriwal say about Sita Haran?

Notably, Kejriwal, while speaking to the slum communities of Vishwas Nagar on Monday, recounted the story related to the incident of ‘Sita-Hiran’, in which Goddess Sita falls victim to Ravana’s ‘golden deer’ deception.

Kejriwal drew a parallel between his opposing party, the BJP, and a ‘golden deer’, advising the people of Vishwas Nagar to “avoid falling into their trap.”

“I want to alert slum residents that lately they (BJP members) have been frequenting slums; they don’t care about you; they are interested in your vote and will dispose of all your lands post-elections. Lord Ram was exiled for 14 years and, one day, he ventured into the forest for food, leaving Mata Sita in the hut, instructing Laxman to guard her; meanwhile, Ravana approached in the guise of a golden deer. Sita requested Laxman for the deer… Laxman went after it, and Ravana seized Sita Maa. These BJP individuals are similar to that golden deer, so do not fall into their trap…” stated Arvind Kejriwal, AAP National Convenor.

Why does BJP claim Kejriwal misquoted the Ramayana?

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Tuesday criticized Kejriwal, alleging that he misquoted a segment of the ‘Ramayana’ and branded him a “Chunavi Hindu,” claiming that his true nature has been revealed to the residents of Delhi and the nation.

Intensifying his criticism, Bhandari accused Kejriwal and Congress MP of engaging in ‘appeasement politics’, asserting that such sentiments are inherent in Kejriwal and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.

While speaking to ANI, Pradeep Bhandari remarked, “Arvind Kejriwal is a ‘Chunavi’ Hindu. Appeasement is part of his and his leader’s nature. He has a scant understanding of the Ramayana and cannot recite it accurately… He mentions that his grandmother used to advise against building Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya. He argued that all land in Delhi should be allocated to Waqf. The ‘Chunavi’ Hindu persona of Arvind Kejriwal has been laid bare before the populace of Delhi and the country…”

Earlier, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva vehemently criticized AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of disrespecting Sanatan Dharma and misinterpreting the sacred scripture, Ramcharitmanas.

Sachdeva questioned Kejriwal’s newfound enthusiasm for temples, suggesting he only acknowledges them during election season.

He accused Kejriwal of “disrespecting” Sanatan Dharma and “misinterpreting” Ramcharitmanas. He claimed that such individuals are “adharmi” and only consider temples when elections are approaching.

“The manner in which Arvind Kejriwal has distorted Shri Ramcharitmanas and attempted to insult Sanatana is not a first occurrence. These people are adharmi. I cannot ascertain what his grandmother recited to him, but he used to assert that the Ram Temple should not be constructed. Now, as elections loom, he recalls the Ram Temple and all other temples,” Sachdeva told ANI.

The Assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled to occur in a single phase on February 5, and vote counting will take place on February 8.
