J&K LG requests Omar Abdullah for oath ceremony on October 16

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Singh, extended an invitation to on October 16 for the oath-taking ceremony. This invitation came after the JKNC president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, informed the LG that Omar Abdullah had been unanimously elected as Leader of the Legislature Party.

“I am pleased to invite you to form and lead the Government of Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG stated in his letter. Additionally, the LG mentioned that he had received support letters from various political parties and independent candidates, offering their support for the formation of the government led by JKNC.

The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place at SKICC, Srinagar on October 16, 2024, at 11.30 am. The LG expressed his best wishes for a successful tenure and urged the new government to work in the best interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the INDI alliance led by JK National Conference emerged victorious with 49 seats, while the BJP secured 27 seats. Others managed to win 9 seats in the elections.
