The electric vehicle industry is rapidly growing, with more and more cities around the world opting for electric buses as a sustainable mode of transportation. One recent development in this sector is the awarding of a ₹1,800-crore contract to JBM Ecolife Mobility Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of JBM Auto Ltd, for the procurement, operation, and maintenance of 343 electric buses for Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd and other leading corporates.

This contract is a significant step towards promoting green mobility in Ahmedabad, as it will not only reduce carbon emissions but also provide a more comfortable and efficient mode of transportation for the city’s residents. Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd, a subsidiary of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, currently operates 150 electric buses on BRTS routes in the city, and with the addition of these new buses, the city’s electric bus fleet will be significantly expanded.

The contract also includes the operation and maintenance of the buses, ensuring that they are well-maintained and run efficiently throughout their lifecycle. This is crucial for the long-term sustainability and success of electric bus operations, as proper maintenance is key to ensuring the longevity and performance of the vehicles.

Overall, this contract demonstrates the commitment of Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd and other leading corporates towards promoting sustainable transportation solutions. By investing in electric buses, they are not only reducing their carbon footprint but also setting an example for other cities to follow. With the global shift towards sustainable transportation, initiatives like these are crucial for creating a cleaner and greener future for all.
