The national transporter is currently engaged in discussions with manufacturers to evaluate their capacity to supply new wagons. Upon completing this consultation, a tender will be issued, likely in phases. For the current financial year, the initial procurement plan is projected to encompass approximately 35,000 to 40,000 wagons, aligning with the quantities supplied by the industry under the previous tender, according to an official involved in the process. Depending on the industry’s performance regarding this initial tender, a more extensive procurement plan may be announced later this year. The official emphasized that the assessment of wagon requirements is an ongoing endeavor, indicating that orders would be placed as demand arises.
