New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad have been eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Facing Rajasthan Royals in the tournament’s eliminator on May 27 in Mullanpur, SRH suffered a 47-run defeat, allowing the Royals to progress to Qualifier 2.
Batting first, Rajasthan Royals amassed a total of 243 runs in their innings, restricting Sunrisers Hyderabad to 196 runs. After losing a couple of early wickets, hopes were pinned on Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 18 runs off 10 balls before being dismissed by Yash Raj Punja.
Despite this performance, Klaasen nonetheless surpassed Kane Williamson and several other elite batsmen on the list of non-openers with the most runs in a single IPL season, now sitting fourth overall.
In his post-match comments, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins expressed his satisfaction with the talent within the current SRH squad. He stated, “I think we end up as a really well-rounded team. Praful and Sakib were awesome. Young guys haven’t played a lot. I think I saw a stat today, we’re one of the youngest teams to make the playoffs or something this year, or ever, which shows some of the talent that the coaching group have unearthed. So yeah, it’s great as a captain seeing them go about it.”
