Erling Haaland scored two goals for Manchester City in a commanding 3-0 victory against Manchester United in the Premier League, solidifying Pep Guardiola’s side’s position in the derby. Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 18th minute, heading in a cross from Jeremy Doku. Haaland’s first goal came in the 53rd minute, aided by Doku’s assist, as he neatly chipped the ball over United’s goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir. He added his second in the 68th minute after outpacing Harry Maguire to capitalize on a misplaced United pass. This win lifted City to eighth in the league standings, while United finds themselves in 14th place. Despite Haaland’s near-hat-trick, as he struck the post later in the match, he notched his 50th goal in just 50 home Premier League appearances, a feat only surpassed by Alan Shearer. City outshot United six to two, with their new goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, making key saves to maintain the clean sheet. In a separate match, Mohamed Salah converted a stoppage-time penalty for Liverpool, securing a 1-0 win over Burnley.
