Next week, the Indian primary market will be buzzing with activity as five companies—including notable players like Dhoot Transmission and Shiprocket—launch their initial public offerings (IPOs). The total issue size of these offerings is projected to exceed ₹7,400 crore, reflecting a strong resurgence in the IPO market.

Upcoming IPOs: Key Details

On August 10, the IPOs by Dhoot Transmission and Molbio Diagnostics will kick off, followed by Milky Mist Dairy Food on August 11. E-commerce enablement platform Shiprocket and Behari Lal Engineering will open their public offerings on August 12. Together, these five companies aim to raise approximately ₹7,443 crore—an indicator of heightened market interest.

Dhoot Transmission is offering its shares in a price range of ₹829-871 per share, with a total issuance size of ₹3,067 crore. This includes a fresh issue of ₹1,400 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 1.91 crore shares from its promoters. Similarly, Molbio Diagnostics has set a price band of ₹768-807 per share for its IPO, which aims to raise ₹904-940 crore, featuring a fresh issue and an OFS component.

Milky Mist Dairy Food will offer shares at a price range of ₹133-140 per share, making it the largest IPO ever for an Indian dairy company, with a combined value of ₹1,553 crore. Concurrently, Shiprocket has a price band set at ₹92-97 per share for its ₹1,617.5-crore IPO, while Behari Lal Engineering will offer its shares at ₹271-285 per share to raise ₹302 crore.

Investment Landscape and Market Trends

The IPO landscape is buoyant following recent institutional investments, indicating robust investor confidence. Notably, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has returned to the Indian IPO market, investing ₹20 crore as an anchor investor in Molbio Diagnostics. This marks IFC’s first participation since 2021, suggesting increased foreign interest in the Indian market. Institutional investors in Molbio have already acquired ₹160 crore worth of shares through secondary transactions.

The convergence of modern healthcare, e-commerce, and manufacturing sectors in this IPO wave reflects an evolving economic landscape in India. Companies like Shiprocket are poised to leverage the growth in e-commerce, while Milky Mist aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for dairy products.

What This Means

The upcoming IPOs signify a renewed interest in the Indian public markets, highlighting a diverse range of sectors that are attracting investments. The collective fundraising effort of ₹7,443 crore illustrates the robust appetite for equity in a post-pandemic economy. A successful outcome for these IPOs could bolster market sentiment, encouraging more companies to consider going public. This could also stimulate further institutional and retail investment in the equity markets, aiding corporate growth and innovation across various industries.
