India Energy Week (IEW) is set to host its 2025 edition, serving as the country’s premier oil and gas sector event. The event is expected to witness the launch of the tenth bidding round of the Open Acreage Licensing Programme (OALP), with potential joint bids from ONGC and BP for offshore fields.

Expected to span over 1 lakh sq meters, IEW 2025 is poised to be the second-largest energy event globally, attracting key stakeholders such as Ministers and CEOs from the oil and gas sector. The event will feature participation from 20 ministerial-level representatives, including Foreign Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries like Qatar, the UK, Russia, Brazil, Tanzania, and Venezuela. Additionally, top executives from international organizations such as OPEC and IEA, along with 90 CEOs from Fortune 500 energy companies, are expected to attend.

Oil Minister H S Puri hinted at the launch of the next OALP round at IEW 2025, stating, “We’re hoping to do the 10th round during this thing.” The event will also see the launch of oil and gas insights by OPEC and the International Energy Agency (IEA) on India, highlighting the country’s growing significance as an energy consumer.

IEW 2025 will focus on crucial themes like energy security, orderly energy transition, collaboration, resilience, capacity building, innovation, and digital advancements. These discussions aim to provide practical solutions for decarbonization, energy equity promotion, and the advancement of low-carbon economies.

Key metrics for IEW 2025 include a 65% increase in exhibition space compared to 2024, 105 conference sessions (15% higher than 2024), and participation from over 70,000 delegates, 500 speakers, and over 700 exhibitors. The event will also host the Clean Cooking Ministerial, showcasing India’s success with the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) as a model for global adoption and facilitating discussions on clean cooking solutions worldwide.

Overall, IEW 2025 will serve as a crucial platform for addressing challenges and opportunities in the energy sector, as countries strive to secure stable energy supplies while transitioning to sustainable and green energy sources.
