NEW DELHI: Authorities in Delhi have raised the alert level following intelligence reports suggesting a potential terror threat. This escalation has prompted Delhi Police and other security agencies to enhance surveillance at multiple sensitive locations across the city.

An official stated that police have been instructed to maintain a heightened vigilance regarding suspicious activities, unattended items, and vehicles parked in critical areas. According to security agency reports, there are concerns about potential attempts to target key offices and crowded spaces in central Delhi using methods such as suicide attacks, vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (IEDs), shootings, and coordinated strikes.

Security measures have been intensified around the headquarters of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Marg, along with nearby government structures. This includes the deployment of additional armed personnel, barricading, and thorough vehicle checks.

In addition, anti-sabotage inspections are being conducted at major government buildings, political offices, marketplaces, transport hubs, and other densely populated areas across Delhi. The bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog units, and quick reaction teams, in collaboration with the Delhi Fire Service, have also been put on alert.

Furthermore, security protocols have been strengthened in vulnerable neighborhoods, with local police conducting random checking operations and verification activities. Senior officers are closely monitoring the situation and reassessing security arrangements citywide.

Notably, a tragic incident occurred last November when an explosion inside a vehicle near the Red Fort claimed the lives of at least 15 people and injured more than 20, marking the first terror attack in the national capital since 2011.
