Congress Selects Alka Lamba for Kalkaji in Upcoming Delhi Elections

In a significant move ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, the Congress party has nominated Alka Lamba as its candidate for the Kalkaji constituency. Lamba, previously associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is set to challenge the current Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader, Atishi. This contest is expected to be a highly competitive affair.

The announcement was made via a press release from the All India Congress Committee (AICC), which confirmed the approval of Lamba’s candidature for the upcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly of Delhi from the 51-Kalkaji constituency.

In the previous 2020 Delhi elections, Atishi triumphed in Kalkaji, garnering over 55,000 votes and defeating the BJP candidate, Dharambir. In contrast, Congress’ Shivani Chopra finished a distant third, securing less than 5,000 votes. This upcoming election is pivotal for Congress as they seek to regain their foothold in a constituency where they have struggled in recent elections.
