AWL Agri Business Ltd, formerly known as Adani Wilmar Ltd, has partnered with the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) and the Solidaridad Regional Expertise Centre (SREC) to launch the ‘Regenerative Mustard Mission – Sustainable Mustard Farm Project’.

As the lead sponsor, AWL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SEA at the association’s annual general meeting in Mumbai. This collaboration will remain active until August 2027.

The initiative aims to establish 3,000 mustard model farms across nine districts, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana, effectively doubling the existing 1,500 farms. These model farms will implement regenerative agriculture practices, utilize satellite-based monitoring, manage soil health, and adopt climate-resilient techniques with the goal of bridging the yield gap in mustard cultivation.

Supporting 20,000 Farmers

The project also intends to train and support 20,000 farmers through demonstration plots, farmer field schools, and digital advisory platforms. By incorporating sustainable farming practices, the initiative targets a 30% increase in productivity and income for smallholder farmers. This aligns with India’s National Mission on Edible Oils – Oilseeds (NMEO-OS) and the government’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.

According to a media statement, the ‘Regenerative Mustard Mission’ will not only help reduce India’s edible oil import bill but also enhance farmers’ incomes, promote environmental stewardship, and bolster consumer trust in sustainable food systems.
