Ex-Domestic Worker Arrested in Delhi IIT Graduate Murder; Linked to Alwar Case

NEW DELHI: The investigation into the rape and murder of the daughter of an IRS officer has revealed alarming details following an autopsy, according to news agency ANI and Dr. Sudhir Gupta, head of forensic medicine at AIIMS Delhi. The 22-year-old victim was found dead on Wednesday, with the accused, identified as Rahul Meena, being arrested later at Dwarka in Delhi.

Dr. Gupta stated that the external examination uncovered multiple abrasions and contusions on both the arms, hands, and legs of the victim, indicating a struggle occurred during the assault. “These findings are signs of resistance,” he noted.

Facial injuries were also evident, including a fracture of the nasal bone, attributed to blunt force trauma. “Multiple abrasions were found on the face, along with a fracture of the nasal bone,” Dr. Gupta elaborated.

During the internal examination, significant findings in the neck area were noted. “On neck dissection—intramuscular hemorrhage was found in the sternocleidomastoid, sternothyroid, and sternohyoid muscles,” he explained.

For further forensic analysis, viscera samples, nail scrapings, and blood samples have been preserved at the request of the investigating officer to clarify the cause and sequence of events.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly entered the Kailash Hills apartment in South Delhi using a spare key, proceeding to a rooftop study area where the assault took place. After allegedly attempting strangulation, sexual assault is suspected to have occurred after the victim lost consciousness, followed by fatal blows with a heavy object.

Sources indicated that after the incident, the accused fled with cash and valuables and attempted to evade detection by making fake calls and disposing of mobile phones to eliminate digital evidence. He was eventually traced to Palam railway station, where he attempted to escape but failed to board a train.

A Saket court has remanded the accused to four days of police custody for further interrogation as the investigation continues. The victim was an IIT Delhi graduate and a civil services aspirant who was preparing for her first UPSC attempt, having established a separate study room on the terrace for focused preparation.

A case has been officially registered under charges of rape, murder, and robbery, with further investigation underway.
