NEW DELHI: Pilots of Air India’s Bengaluru-Delhi flight declared a full emergency on Thursday night following an engine fire warning in the cockpit. The aircraft landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport on runway 29R at 9:30 PM, where flight operations were briefly suspended.

Emergency and follow-me vehicles sent to the runway reported no visible fire. The aircraft was subsequently towed from the runway, and passengers were disembarked without incident. Sources confirmed that none of the approximately 180 individuals on board were injured.

In a preliminary statement, Air India acknowledged the incident with flight AI2802, stating, “We are aware of an incident involving flight AI2802 operating from Bengaluru to Delhi on 21 May 2026. The aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew are safe. We are currently gathering additional information and are working closely with the relevant authorities. Further updates will be shared as more details become available.”
