IndiGo Announces Suspension of Manchester Flight Service Starting August 31

IndiGo announced on Tuesday that it will temporarily halt its wide-body flight operations to and from Manchester starting August 31. The decision is attributed to extended flight routes resulting from airspace restrictions linked to the ongoing Iran conflict, alongside rising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices and foreign exchange volatility.

The budget airline plans to return one of the six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft that it acquired on a damp lease from Norse Atlantic Airways in early 2025. According to Abhijit Dasgupta, an official from IndiGo, the airline had integrated these aircraft to enhance connectivity to high-potential long-haul destinations and had initially received a positive response. However, Dasgupta noted, “It is unfortunate that longer flying times and rising costs compelled us to take the decision.”
