Punjab Election Result 2026 LIVE: The counting of votes for the civic body elections in Punjab commenced at 8 am on May 29.

Around 64 percent of eligible voters participated in the elections held on May 26. These polls were conducted to elect representatives for 102 civic bodies, comprising 8 municipal corporations, 75 municipal councils, and 19 nagar panchayats.

The local body elections are regarded as significant for all major political parties in Punjab, particularly as they precede the assembly elections scheduled for next year. The event serves as a critical test for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which aims to maintain its power in the state.

A total of 22,38,241 votes were cast across the 102 municipalities, which include Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Nagar Panchayats. The elections spanned 1,897 wards and utilized 3,833 polling booths throughout Punjab.
