Veteran Actress Neetu Kapoor Set to Star in ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’

New Delhi: Neetu Kapoor, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, is preparing for the release of her forthcoming film Daadi Ki Shaadi, which also marks the acting debut of her daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Directed by Ashish R Mohan, the film is slated for theatrical release on May 8, 2026. Neetu Kapoor began her acting career at the age of five and gained recognition for her roles in several acclaimed films, including Amar Akbar Anthony, Khel Khel Mein, and Deewaar.

At the pinnacle of her career, around the age of 20-21, Kapoor decided to withdraw from the entertainment industry following her marriage to fellow actor Rishi Kapoor. She later discussed the reasons behind her decision and her comeback in an interview on Koffee with Karan Season 8.

Reasons for Leaving the Industry

In the interview, Neetu Kapoor reflected on her departure from the film industry, stating, “I started working when I was 5. When Do Kaliyaan came, I was so loved by everyone. I had already seen fame very early in my career, so after that, working became a job for me; it was nothing that I looked forward to. From age 5 to 21, I worked a lot, doing around 70-80 movies.” She elaborated on her exhaustion after 15 years in the industry, emphasizing her desire to focus on her children and home life. “My husband was very possessive. He wanted me all the time to just be around and be there,” she added, expressing gratitude for the loving environment fostered by her family, including her in-laws.

Neetu Kapoor’s Return to Film

Following an extended hiatus, Neetu Kapoor made her return to cinema in 2010 with Do Dooni Chaar, starring opposite Rishi Kapoor. The film, directed by Habib Faisal, received critical acclaim, although it underperformed at the box office, grossing approximately Rs 3.14 crore.

Details of ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’

Now, in 2026, Neetu Kapoor is set to appear in the comedy family drama Daadi Ki Shaadi. The film features actor-comedian Kapil Sharma, The Diplomat actress Sadia Khateeb, and R Sarathkumar in significant roles. It is produced by RTake Studios, BeingU Studios, and Shimla Talkies Production.
