Top 10 Firms See ₹2.20 Lakh Crore Surge; Reliance Emerges as Major Beneficiary

The total market valuation of four of the ten most valued firms increased by ₹2.20 lakh crore during a holiday-shortened week, with Reliance Industries being the standout performer.

Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 249.29 points, or 0.32 percent. “Markets ended the week with marginal gains, reflecting a volatile and range-bound trading environment amid mixed global and domestic cues,” stated Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President of Research at Religare Broking Ltd.

The week commenced positively, bolstered by easing geopolitical tensions and steady progress in fourth-quarter earnings, which boosted initial investor sentiment. However, gains were gradually restrained by rising crude oil prices, unfavorable signals from Asian markets, and ongoing foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, Mishra noted.

Among the firms that gained value were Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Bajaj Finance. In contrast, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever, and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) collectively lost ₹1.24 lakh crore in market valuation.

Reliance Industries saw its market valuation rise by ₹1,39,655.8 crore, bringing its total to ₹19,36,303.30 crore. Bharti Airtel’s valuation increased by ₹43,503.51 crore to reach ₹11,49,222.13 crore. TCS added ₹27,569.83 crore, elevating its market cap to ₹8,94,933.95 crore, while Bajaj Finance climbed by ₹9,432.32 crore to a total of ₹5,83,123.13 crore.

Conversely, ICICI Bank experienced a market cap decline of ₹45,364.62 crore, reducing its valuation to ₹9,04,980.78 crore. State Bank of India lost ₹30,922.57 crore, bringing its total valuation to ₹9,85,829.96 crore. HDFC Bank’s market capitalization decreased by ₹20,951.31 crore, totaling ₹11,87,274.17 crore, while Hindustan Unilever saw a drop of ₹18,420.79 crore to ₹5,28,799.01 crore. Lastly, LIC’s valuation fell by ₹8,222.49 crore to ₹5,04,798.07 crore, and Larsen & Toubro saw a decline of ₹178.83 crore, bringing its valuation down to ₹5,51,993.05 crore.

Reliance Industries remains the most valued domestic firm, followed by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever, and LIC.
