High Court Dismisses Bina Modi Case After Son Withdraws Charges

The Delhi High Court has concluded criminal proceedings against Bina Modi, CMD of Godfrey Phillips India, her personal security guard Surendra Prasad, and senior lawyer Lalit Bhasin, following the withdrawal of charges by her son, Samir Modi. The decision, made on Monday, came after Samir informed Justice Saurabh Banerjee via video conference that he had rescinded his complaint against the three individuals, who had sought relief from the court subsequent to a settlement with him.

Earlier, on February 10, a Saket court had summoned the trio to appear on May 7 concerning an incident that allegedly took place during a board meeting on May 30, 2024. According to the prosecution’s account, Samir, who serves as an executive director at Godfrey Phillips India, claimed that he was prevented from entering the boardroom by Prasad on Bina Modi’s instructions. He alleged that he was assaulted during his insistence to enter, resulting in a broken index finger on his right hand, which led to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) in June 2024.

In a subsequent police chargesheet filed on March 1, 2025, Prasad was named as the primary accused, while Bina Modi and Lalit Bhasin were cleared of charges due to insufficient evidence against them.
