Design & Comfort
Accessible in Radiant Gray and Raven Black, the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro emphasize portability and comfort. The earbuds measure 31mm x 20mm x 17.52mm, while the charging case is slightly larger at 60.00mm x 49.64mm x 25.04mm. Weighing approximately 4.4g each, the total weight of the package is about 43g, facilitating easy transport in pockets. An IP55 rating makes the earbuds resistant to dust and water splashes. The matte finish enhances grip while remaining smooth to the touch.
Sound & Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
The Nord Buds 4 Pro effectively cancel out low-frequency sounds and ambient office noise. Nevertheless, the ANC is not perfect; users may experience a vacuum-like pressure in the ears, and sounds from both low and high frequencies may occasionally penetrate the audio isolation.
With a secure fit, the earbuds remain stable during intense physical activity. During one-hour workouts, including jogging, the earbuds stayed comfortably in place without causing discomfort.
Incorporating OnePlus 3D Spatial Audio and OnePlus Game Sound Spatial Audio, the earbuds provide an immersive audio experience compatible with major music, video, and podcast platforms. Gamers can utilize the spatial features in select titles like BGMI, Free Fire, and Call of Duty: Mobile, although head tracking is absent. While these enhancements may appear minor, they enhance the overall audio experience, lending weight to the “Pro” designation.
A 12mm dynamic driver delivers high volume and substantial bass; however, users may find the soundstage somewhat limited. Tracks, such as “All The Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, may experience overpowering bass that detracts from vocal and instrumental clarity. The inclusion of Basswave technology further exaggerates low-end performance.
Call quality remains a highlight, as the Nord Buds 4 Pro features six microphones, allowing for effective voice capture. Recipients reported clear audio and notable background noise suppression.
Connectivity
The Nord Buds 4 Pro come equipped with Bluetooth 6.0, supporting high-resolution LHDC 5.0 as well as standard AAC and SBC codecs. Pairing is swift on Android devices through Google Fast Pair, while Microsoft Swift Pair facilitates connections with PCs and laptops.
These earbuds also support Dual-Device Connection, allowing for simultaneous connections to two devices. Users reported a stable connection, with quick switching to the active device. The HeyMelody app assists users in prioritizing devices.
Features & App
The HeyMelody app, typically utilized with OnePlus TWS products, controls various functionalities of the Nord Buds 4 Pro. Features include toggling between Noise Cancellation and transparency mode, adjusting dual connection settings, and accessing OnePlus 3D audio in select applications and games. The app allows for EQ profile adjustments as well as a find-my-earbud feature. While basic, the app is fully functional and consolidates essential controls for the earbuds.
Standard Touch Controls are incorporated, along with Volume Swipe Control on the stems. This feature allows for precise volume adjustment through upward and downward swipes, which has been noted for its responsiveness.
Battery
The earbuds each contain 62mAh batteries, while the charging case provides a 530mAh capacity. Users can expect about 7 hours of playback with ANC activated and over 10 hours when using AAC with ANC off at moderate volume. Together with the case, total music playback extends to 54 hours. Full charging for both the earbuds and the case via USB-C takes approximately 90 minutes.
Verdict
The Nord Buds 4 Pro offer a secure fit and effective noise cancellation for ₹3,999, presenting a compelling value offering. Although the tuning leans toward a bass-heavy sound and lacks intricate detail in the soundstage, these compromises may be acceptable for casual listeners. Competitive alternatives, such as the Realme Buds Air 6 Pro and CMF Buds Pro 2, provide either a broader soundstage or superior case functionality at similar prices. Nonetheless, for users who prefer a bass-forward audio profile, the Nord Buds 4 Pro remain a recommended option under ₹4,000.
