Indian Vessels Change Course in Hormuz Strait, Vessel Tracker Reveals

Two Indian vessels have altered their course in the Strait of Hormuz following reports of gunfire from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, according to vessel-tracking service TankerTrackers.com. Among the vessels is an Indian-flagged supertanker transporting 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.

Earlier, the British military reported that two Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats fired upon a tanker navigating the Strait of Hormuz after Iran announced it was reimposing restrictions on this crucial maritime route. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre confirmed that the tanker and its crew were safe, although it did not disclose the vessel’s identity or its destination.

Iran stated that the reimposition of restrictions is a response to a U.S. blockade on Iranian shipping and ports. Throughout the seven-week conflict, Iran has restricted the passage of vessels, permitting only those it authorizes to cross.
