Women Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) protested in the premises of Parliament on Friday following the failure of the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, to pass in the Lok Sabha.

The bill aimed to implement a reservation for women in legislatures by 2029 and to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats. Prominent BJP MPs, including Kangana Ranaut and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, raised slogans during the demonstration. This protest occurred during a special session of Parliament in New Delhi, underscoring the political significance of the bill and the NDA’s commitment to women’s representation.

The failure of the bill has sparked considerable attention and debate regarding women’s reservation in Indian politics, a topic that has been the subject of extensive discussion over the years.
