Guwahati: Unseasonal rains have affected various regions of India, leading to the first washout of the IPL 2026 season during the KKR vs PBKS match on Monday. The Rajasthan Royals are preparing to take on the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, where weather conditions will again be a focus due to ongoing rain.
According to AccuWeather, there is a 49 to 55% chance of rain in Guwahati today, accompanied by thunderstorms. The drainage capacity at the stadium will be put to the test; however, the likelihood of rain decreases significantly during the match hours, with only a 10% chance between 7 PM and 11 PM, although overcast conditions are expected.
While the potential for rain could disrupt play, a complete washout seems unlikely, in contrast to the situation at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday. Attention will be on the possibility of rain between 1 PM and 3 PM, as thunderstorms are forecasted during that timeframe.
As the match approaches, anticipation builds over whether the Rajasthan Royals will stun the Mumbai Indians. The Royals are coming off a remarkable victory against the Gujarat Titans, having defended 16 runs during the last two overs. Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande were instrumental in securing their second consecutive win of the season.
On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians, bolstered by the return of skipper Hardik Pandya—who missed the previous match against the Delhi Capitals—are eager to bounce back after their recent loss. The team is keen to return to winning form in today’s match.
