Al-Falah University has issued an official statement denying any institutional connection with the three doctors arrested by investigating agencies in connection with an alleged “terror module” and slammed the media trial, calling its allegations baseless after many media outlets and Hindutva handles targeted the university over the arrests and the recent blast in Delhi.

The statement, released by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Bhupinder Kaur Anand, said the university was “deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events. We have also leart that two of our doctors have been detained by the Investigating Agencies. We wish to make it clear that the University has no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the University,” the statement read.

The VC further noted that “certain online platforms are circulating baseless and misleading stories with the clear intent of maligning the reputation and goodwill of the University. We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations.”

The statement comes amid a wave of media trial and social media posts targeting the institution after the arrests of three doctors — Muzamil Ahmad Ganaie (32) from Pulwama, Adeel from Wanpora in Kulgam, and Dr. Shaheen Saeed (40).

The three were detained between October 30 and November 8 in connection with what police described as a “terror module” allegedly linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).

Though no official confirmation has been issued, several media outlets have speculated that the arrests may be connected to the recent Red Fort blast case.

Many Hindutva affiliated journalists also claim the same. However, no government or investigative agency has confirmed these allegations.

Addressing rumors about hazardous materials, the university categorically stated:
“It is hereby clarified that no such chemical or material, as is being alleged by certain platforms, is being used, stored, or handled within the University premises. The University laboratories are used solely and exclusively for the academic and training requirements of MBBS students and other authorized courses. Every laboratory activity is carried out in strict adherence to established safety protocols, statutory norms, and ethical standards mandated by the regulatory authorities. We also urge all organizations and individuals to act responsibly and verify facts through official channels before making or sharing any statements concerning the University.”

In the first part of the official letter, the university highlighted its credentials: “Al-Falah Group, is managing various institutions since the year 1997, it became autonomous in the year 2009 and became a University in the year 2014. Al-Falah is recognized by University Grants Commission under section 2(f) and 12(B) under UGC Act, 1956. Alfalah hospital is committed to care and serving since 2014. The doctors trained and graduated from our institution are presently serving in reputed hospitals, institutions, and organizations across India and abroad, holding responsible and distinguished positions. Further, Post Graduate Medical Courses MD/MS various subjects commenced in the university in 2023.”

Reaffirming its stance on national integrity, the university added: “We also want to make it loud & clear that as a responsible institution, we stand in solidarity with the nation and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the unity, peace, and security of our country. Moreover, the University is extending its full cooperation to the concered investigating authorities to enable them to arrive at a logical, fair, and conclusive determination in the matter pertaining to national security. Further, our students are sincerely engaged in acquiring education, and it is imperative that and every effort should be made to ensure that their education continues in an atmosphere of peace, normalcyand academic discipline on campus.”

The university’s statement concludes with an appeal to the media and public to avoid spreading misinformation and to allow due process to take its course.
