Super Typhoon Ragasa, one of the most powerful storms to impact Asia in recent years, has unleashed severe destruction across the region, particularly in Taiwan and the Philippines, before continuing towards southern China. The storm has resulted in at least 14 fatalities in Taiwan, where torrential rains caused overflow from a barrier lake, leading to devastating floods that swept away vehicles and damaged infrastructure in Hualien County. In the northern Philippines, ten deaths have been reported, including seven fishermen who drowned when their boat capsized due to massive waves and strong winds. The storm has affected nearly 700,000 individuals, prompting evacuations for over two million residents in Guangdong province as Chinese officials allocate substantial resources for disaster relief. In the wake of the typhoon, authorities suspended transportation services in certain regions, although preparations to resume operations are underway as conditions improve.
