Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra Review: Pioneering Photography Features Unleashed

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra. While they offer only modest upgrades compared to their predecessors, the Xiaomi 15 stands out as a sophisticated, compact rival to devices like the iPhone 16 and Pixel 9, whereas the Xiaomi 15 Ultra seeks to impress photography enthusiasts. Both smartphones boast remarkable specifications, and Xiaomi has refined its HyperOS software, integrating AI features—following the trend set by numerous other brands in the industry.

However, there is still potential for enhancement. Unwanted bloatware feels rather inappropriate for smartphones at this price point, the Xiaomi 15 features a rather uninspired design that closely resembles the Xiaomi 14, and the absence of Qi2 support is unfortunate, especially as we yearn for magnetic accessories compatible with Android devices. Furthermore, neither model is available for purchase in the United States.

Elegant and Efficient

It’s not uncommon for the latest iteration of a phone to appear almost identical to its predecessor (looking at you, Samsung and Apple). In the case of the Xiaomi 15, the resemblance is striking. Even the color options remain unchanged; my review unit is black, but it is also offered in white and green. Nonetheless, I find the design appealing. It’s a compact device that fits well in one hand, has a matte finish resistant to fingerprints, and features slightly rounded edges that enhance comfort during use.
