The Congress party may not have secured any seats in Delhi, but with a vote share of 6.39 percent, it played a crucial role in undermining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In 14 constituencies, the votes received by Congress were greater than the margins by which the BJP candidates triumphed over AAP candidates.

Leaders of AAP, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Somnath Bharti, saw their losses impacted by the performance of Congress candidates, who garnered more votes than the differences between the winning BJP candidates and AAP’s candidates in these areas.

For instance, in New Delhi, BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh received 30,088 votes, while Arvind Kejriwal got 25,999 votes, resulting in a margin of 4,089 votes. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit received 4,568 votes.

In Jungpura, Tarvinder Singh Marwah from the BJP gained 38,859 votes, while Manish Sisodia followed closely behind with 38,184 votes, losing by a narrow margin of 675 votes. Congress candidate Farhad Suri collected 7,350 votes in this constituency.

Saurabh Bharadwaj lost to BJP’s Shikha Roy by 3,188 votes in Greater Kailash, with Congress’s Garvit Singhvi amassing 6,711 votes. Somnath Bharti was defeated by BJP’s Satish Upadhyay by a margin of 2,131 votes, while Congress’s Jitender Kochar received 6,770 votes.

In addition to these four high-profile constituencies, Congress candidates received more votes than the margins of AAP losses in eight other areas, including Badli, Chhatarpur, Madipur, Nangloi Jat, Rajendra Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Timarpur, and Trilokpuri.

In Badli, AAP’s Ajesh Yadav was defeated by 10,461 votes; however, Congress’s Devender Yadav received 31,130 votes. In Chhatarpur, AAP’s Brahm Singh Tanwar lost to BJP’s Kartar Singh Tanwar by 6,239 votes, with Congress’s Rajender Singh Tanwar securing 6,601 votes.

Kailash Gangwal from the BJP beat Rakhi Birla of AAP in Madipur by a substantial 10,899 votes, while Congress garnered 17,958 votes. In Nangloi Jat, BJP’s Manoj Kumar Shokeen bested AAP’s Raghuvinder Shokeen by 26,251 votes; Congress’s Rohit Choudhary received 32,028 votes.

In Rajendra Nagar, Umang Bajaj from the BJP defeated AAP’s Durgesh Pathak by a slim margin of 1,231 votes, with Congress’s Vineet Yadav obtaining 4,015 votes. In Sangam Vihar, BJP’s Chandan Kumar Choudhary emerged victorious over AAP’s Dinesh Mohaniya by just 344 votes, while Congress’s Harsh Choudhary collected 15,863 votes.

Surya Prakash Khatri of the BJP won against AAP’s Surinder Pal Singh Bittoo by a margin of 969 votes in Timarpur, where Congress’s Lokendra Kalyan Singh received 7,827 votes. In Trilokpuri, BJP’s Ravi Kant triumphed over AAP’s Anjana Parcha by a mere 392 votes, and Congress’s Amardeep secured 6,147 votes.

Congress candidates also placed second in two constituencies: Karawal Nagar, behind BJP’s Kapil Mishra, and Kasturba Nagar, where Congress’s Abhishek Dutt came in second to BJP’s Neeraj Basoya, who won by a margin of 11,048 votes. In Kasturba Nagar, AAP finished third, gathering 18,617 votes.
