Maruti Suzuki India, a leading player in the automotive market, announced on Thursday that it will implement price increases of up to Rs 32,500 across several models, effective February 1, 2025. This decision follows rising costs of inputs and overall operational expenses that the company has been experiencing.

In its regulatory announcement, Maruti Suzuki stated, “While we remain committed to controlling costs and minimizing the impact on our customers, we find it necessary to transfer some of the increased costs to the market.”

The new pricing adjustments will see the compact car Celerio facing an ex-showroom price increase of up to Rs 32,500. The premium Invicto model will rise by as much as Rs 30,000. The widely-loved Wagon-R will increase by up to Rs 15,000, while the Swift will experience a rise of Rs 5,000.

In the SUV category, the Brezza and Grand Vitara will have price hikes of up to Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively. For entry-level vehicles like the Alto K10, prices will increase by up to Rs 19,500, and the S-Presso will see a rise of up to Rs 5,000.

Moreover, the premium compact Baleno will have its price go up by up to Rs 9,000, whereas the compact SUV Fronx will increase by up to Rs 5,500. The compact sedan Dzire will rise by up to Rs 10,000.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers a diverse range of vehicles, starting with the entry-level Alto K10 at around Rs 3.99 lakh and extending to the premium Invicto, priced at Rs 28.92 lakh.

In a parallel development, the government is considering a new regulation that would mandate the inclusion of advanced safety technology in larger vehicles such as trucks and buses. This technology aims to help avert accidents, incorporating features such as stability control systems, automatic braking in emergencies, and fatigue detection for drivers. The initiative is focused on ensuring safer roads by enhancing the safety of new heavy vehicles.
