Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) saw its shares trading at ₹9.52, down by ₹0.42 or 4.23 per cent on the NSE at 11:55 am today.

Addressing rumors, Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) stated on January 20 that it has not been informed by the government about any potential waiver of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues amounting to over ₹1 lakh crore. This clarification was issued after a media report on January 18 hinted at the government considering a relief package for telecom companies by potentially waiving AGR dues.

The AGR dues have been a looming financial strain for telecom operators in India ever since the Supreme Court’s 2019 ruling that expanded the scope of AGR to include non-telecom revenues. Vodafone Idea’s statement came in response to fluctuation in its share price following the media report.
