Kae Capital is a prominent early-stage venture capital firm that has made significant investments in 90 companies since its inception in 2012. The firm prides itself on being the first investor in a venture, emphasizing its commitment to partnering with start-ups from the very beginning and supporting them for the long term.

With a diverse portfolio that includes successful companies like Tata 1mg, Zetwerk, Porter, and Healthkart, Kae Capital remains sector-agnostic but focuses on key investment themes such as manufacturing, premium domestic consumption, AI, and energy transition.

In an interview with businessline, Gaurav Chaturvedi, General Partner at Kae Capital, shared insights into the firm’s investment thesis and approach. He highlighted their founder-first approach, where they look for audacious founders with unique insights and a strong team-based perspective. The firm manages an AUM of $230 million across 3 seed funds and 2 opportunities funds, with an average check size ranging from $1 million to $2.5 million.

Kae Capital takes board seats in most cases and remains actively involved in supporting founders with strategic planning, network connections, and guidance on key challenges. The firm has had multiple profitable exits across its funds, focusing on delivering substantial capital returns to its LPs. Overall, Kae Capital’s commitment to early-stage investments and long-term partnerships sets it apart in the venture capital landscape, making it a valuable player in fueling the growth of innovative start-ups.
