Robert Vadra, the husband of a prominent Congress leader, finds himself in the midst of a controversy as the BJP questions the legitimacy of his declared assets. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia raised concerns about the discrepancy between the assets listed in Priyanka’s election affidavit and the actual value of their possessions.

Bhatia claimed that the assets declared by Robert Vadra in the affidavit are lower than the tax department’s demand, which amounts to a whopping ₹75 crore. He went on to describe Priyanka’s affidavit as a “confession of corruption” by the Gandhi family.

Despite these allegations, Priyanka Gandhi made her electoral debut by filing her nomination for the Wayanad bypoll. However, the BJP wasted no time in criticizing her candidacy, labeling it as a continuation of dynastic politics rather than a reflection of merit.

In her affidavit, Priyanka Gandhi disclosed a total income of over ₹46.39 lakh for the 2023-2024 financial year, including rental income and interest from various investments. Additionally, she declared that her husband, Robert Vadra, possesses movable assets exceeding ₹37.9 crore and immovable assets valued at more than ₹27.64 crore, leading to further scrutiny from the BJP regarding their true worth.

Gaurav Bhatia further alleged that Priyanka Gandhi undervalued their Shimla residence, adding fuel to existing accusations of financial misconduct. He also questioned the legality of the property transactions involving the Gandhis, insinuating that rules were bent in their favor.

The BJP has been relentless in demanding accountability from the Congress and the Gandhi family, urging them to clarify the sources of their wealth. Bhatia emphasized the need for transparency, stating that the country deserves to know the truth about any questionable financial dealings. He also took a subtle dig at the Congress by highlighting Priyanka Gandhi’s political eligibility based on her familial connections within the party, implying a reliance on lineage rather than merit.
