Former minister Baba Siddique was tragically killed by two assailants on Saturday evening, just 150 meters from his son MLA Zeeshan’s office, according to Constable Shyam Sonawane, who was on security duty at the time. Siddique had walked ahead of his parked car when an unknown individual set off firecrackers, followed by the assailants firing six shots at him. Sonawane, despite temporary impairment from the smoke, witnessed the attackers shooting at Siddique before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred 40 minutes after Constable Chandrakant Magade, Siddique’s second guard, had completed his shift at 8.30pm. Sonawane described seeing a man setting off firecrackers as Siddique walked away from his vehicle, and then two men randomly firing shots before escaping.
