IMA Urges Health Ministry: Expedite NEET PG 2024 Counselling

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has recently expressed concerns about the delayed NEET PG 2024 counselling process in a letter addressed to Union Health Minister J P Nadda. The IMA stated that the prolonged delay in the counselling process has caused significant distress to numerous NEET PG aspirants nationwide.

In the letter, the IMA urged the Health Minister to consider implementing interim measures to kickstart the counselling process promptly, ensuring the welfare of both students and the healthcare system. The letter highlighted the mounting uncertainties surrounding the delay in NEET PG 2024 counselling, which is currently stalled due to an ongoing case in the Supreme Court of India.

As a result of the judicial proceedings, aspiring candidates who have dedicated themselves to qualifying for postgraduate medical seats are grappling with prolonged uncertainty regarding their future. The delay in the counselling process has also disrupted the operations of healthcare institutions, as the timely induction of postgraduate students is essential for sustaining the availability of medical professionals in hospitals and medical colleges.

Additionally, the IMA pointed out the dilemma faced by state counselling committees concerning the allocation of incentive marks to in-service candidates due to the absence of marks disclosure this year. To ensure the smooth operation of state quota counselling, the IMA requested the declaration of a normalized score.

On a related note, in the NEET UG-2024 paper leak case update, the Special Judge Court for CBI in Patna recently charged 21 individuals with various offenses under the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The investigation revealed that the NEET UG 2024 question paper was stolen from the control room of OASIS School in Hazaribagh on May 5, following the arrival of question paper trunks from the bank vault.
