Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 40-year-old Shaheen Saeed on Tuesday, marking her as the eighth individual implicated in a “terror module” associated with the militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).
The arrests related to this case began in the Kashmir Valley, where five individuals were taken into custody, while three others, including Dr. Shaheen, were apprehended in Faridabad, Haryana, and Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, between October 30 and November 8. Additionally, two other doctors were arrested—32-year-old Muzamil Ahmad Ganaie from Pulwama and Adeel from Wanpora in Kulgam.
Authorities suggest that these medical professionals were allegedly attempting to establish a support base for the terror groups outside the Kashmir Valley. The investigation was initiated following the emergence of a pamphlet in Srinagar on October 19, which urged locals to refrain from cooperating with police and to block their entry into shops.
This lead directed police to a cleric in Shopian, ultimately exposing an alleged “terror plot.” Subsequent raids conducted in Faridabad on November 9 and 10 uncovered approximately 2,900 kg of explosive materials and advanced weaponry.
While some media sources have linked these apprehensions to a recent blast at the Delhi Red Fort, official confirmation regarding this connection is currently unavailable.
