US support for Ukraine: will it stay or go?

The meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy turned into a disagreement in front of the public eye.

President Zelenskyy’s visit, which aimed to secure US support against Russia’s invasion, ended with a public argument. The meeting at the White House was originally planned for the signing of rights to some of Ukraine’s rare earth minerals. The Ukrainian government hoped that this would ensure continued US assistance, even though it did not guarantee security against Russian aggression.

Instead of a smooth meeting, President Zelenskyy received criticism from Trump and Vice President JD Vance, who accused the Ukrainian leader of being disrespectful and ungrateful. Now, Trump is threatening to withdraw support from Ukraine.

The question now is: what does this mean for the ongoing war in Ukraine? And will Washington push for a resolution with Moscow?
