US President Donald Trump recently posted a video of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interview with computer scientist and podcaster Lex Fridman on his social media platform, Truth Social. In his post, Trump included a link to the podcast featuring PM Modi.

During the interview, PM Modi discussed a range of topics including artificial intelligence (AI), sports such as cricket and football, and geopolitical matters involving China, Trump’s administration, and Pakistan. Notably, he praised Trump for his unwavering commitment to the United States, especially in light of the assassination attempts he faced the previous year. Modi reminisced about Trump’s resilience during his campaign for the presidency, noting his strength and determination, which he felt were evident during their joint appearance at a packed stadium.

PM Modi also drew comparisons between Trump’s “America First” policy and his own “India First” approach, emphasizing their mutual focus on prioritizing their nations’ interests. This common ground has fostered a strong bond between the two leaders. “His reflections reveal an America First spirit, just as I have an India First philosophy. That connection is significant. Often, politicians are viewed through the lens of media portrayals, leading to perceptions that may not reflect the truth of their relationships. Personal connections are rare, and misunderstandings can arise from outside influences,” he remarked.

Recalling their memorable encounter at the “Howdy Modi” event in Houston in 2019, Modi commended Trump’s humility and bravery, pointing out how the then-president sat in the audience while Modi spoke from the stage. “During the ‘Howdy Modi’ event, President Trump was right there in the audience while I spoke. For the President of the United States to listen attentively from below was a remarkable gesture of humility,” he said.

After his speech, Modi suggested they take a lap around the stadium to greet the large crowd of Indian Americans. Despite the stringent security protocols, Trump agreed, which reflected their mutual trust. “In the United States, the security measures are exceptionally strict, but when I casually asked Trump if we could walk around, he immediately agreed. His willingness to walk into a sea of thousands was a remarkable display of courage and trust,” Modi commented, describing this moment as genuinely special.

Modi expressed his gratitude for Trump’s kind words about their friendship over the years, even after Trump’s first term ended. “After Biden’s victory, whenever people we mutually knew met Trump, he would consistently say, ‘Modi is my friend. Please convey my regards.’ Such gestures are uncommon. Even without meeting face-to-face during those years, the bond of trust and communication between us remained intact,” he noted.

Additionally, Modi highlighted Trump’s preparedness and clarity in strategy during his current campaign, stating, “I have observed Trump during both his terms. This time, he seems far more organized and methodical, with a clear vision guiding him toward his goals.”

During his recent visit to the United States, Modi also met with several prominent individuals, including tech billionaire Elon Musk and U.S. Vice President JD Vance. He described his encounter with Musk as particularly warm and friendly, noting that Musk was joined by his family during their meeting.
