US President Donald Trump has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his “historic” election victory, as reported by a White House spokesman on Tuesday. This recognition follows the recent assembly polls, which were highlighted by the BJP’s significant win in West Bengal.

White House spokesman Kush Desai conveyed Trump’s warm sentiments towards Modi, noting that the US president, during a phone call last month, expressed admiration for Modi and remarked on how fortunate India is to have him as its leader.

Desai stated, “The President congratulates PM Modi on this recent, historic, and decisive election victory.” The BJP’s victory marks the end of Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year tenure in the state.
