Tragic Night: Afghan Village Destroyed by Falling Stones

In the aftermath of a devastating earthquake in the small village of Aurak Dandila, 36-year-old Mehboob recounted the harrowing loss of his son, Nasib Ullah, who was just 13 years old. On the night of the earthquake, as the ground shook violently and walls collapsed, he struggled to reach his son but was unable to save him. Many villagers were injured, and the chaos forced families to seek safety on the farmland below. Tragically, it took two days for volunteers to recover the bodies of those lost, including Mehboob’s daughter, Aisha. Now, alongside his cousin Hayat Khan, who lost four family members in the disaster, they face the grim reality of their destroyed village, contemplating relocation as they mourn their loved ones. Hayat expressed the sentiment shared by many survivors: the village, once a safe haven, has become a graveyard marked by makeshift stones, leaving them to question how they can continue living amidst the ruins.
