New Delhi: In a tragic event that has stunned the football community, Billy Vigar, a 21-year-old forward for Chichester City, has passed away due to a serious head injury. Vigar, a former Arsenal academy player, sustained the injury during an Isthmian League Premier Division match.

The incident occurred on September 20, 2025, when Vigar collided with a concrete wall while making an effort to keep the ball in play during a match against Wingate & Finchley. Following the injury, he was transported to the hospital, where he was placed into an induced coma and underwent surgical procedures. Despite medical efforts, he tragically passed away on September 25.

Born in West Sussex in 2003, William Joseph Vigar, known as Billy, joined Arsenal’s academy in 2017. Vigar advanced through the ranks and signed a professional contract with the club in 2022. Although he did not make an appearance for the senior team, he gained recognition in the youth academy. He also spent time on loan with Derby County’s under-21s and later played for Eastbourne Borough and Hastings United before signing with Chichester City.

Following Vigar’s passing, Chichester City FC released a statement on social media, expressing their condolences and sharing a message from his family. They thanked fans for their support and requested privacy for the family during this difficult time. “It is with great sadness that Chichester City Football Club has to confirm the passing of Billy Vigar. Below is a statement from his family. We request that his family’s privacy is respected at this most difficult time,” the club’s post read.
