In an important decision aimed at revitalizing and modernizing higher education in the state, which has faced neglect in recent years, the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) has announced a comprehensive revision of its undergraduate curriculum to ensure that it meets industry standards.

The council plans to prioritize skills development and establish an ecosystem that encourages entrepreneurship and innovation.

However, the council has yet to tackle the pressing issue of staffing in government colleges and universities, where numerous vacancies exist. This shortage of faculty remains a significant hurdle for the higher education system in the state.

In an effort to reform higher education, the council is seeking public input. These initiatives reflect a commitment to align educational offerings with industry needs, thereby enhancing the employability of graduates and promoting innovation.

Recognizing the changing requirements of the job market, the TGCHE aims to close the gap between theoretical academic learning and practical skills, ensuring that graduates are fully prepared for the workforce. The revamped curriculum will emphasize hands-on experiences and relevant industry knowledge.

Additionally, the council plans to introduce a new internship program designed to equip students with skills that align with industry expectations. The revision of the syllabus will be undertaken by specialized committees focusing on different subjects.

To promote collaboration and inclusivity, the TGCHE encourages feedback from a diverse range of stakeholders, including academics, industry professionals, students, and policymakers. A dedicated Google form is available on the TGCHE website (www.tgche.ac.in) to facilitate this input.

The council also aims to integrate technology and digital innovation into the new program, strengthen research and development initiatives, and introduce Faculty Development Programs.
