The Telangana Government is set to establish the Future City Development Authority, which aims to foster the planned creation of a cutting-edge city known as the Fourth City, as proposed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. This initiative aspires to be the first net-zero city in India, focusing on sustainability.

The new Authority will oversee the efficient implementation of this initiative, positioning it as a model for modern urban development in the country. During the inaugural session of the Assembly’s Budget session, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma highlighted that the Future City would signify a pivotal advancement in Telangana’s urban and industrial expansion, covering an area of 765 square kilometers across 56 villages within 7 mandals.

Strategically located between the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar Highways, this ambitious project seeks to integrate smart urban infrastructure, promote sustainable industrial growth, and ensure inclusive residential planning. The Governor also noted that the State Government recently secured investments totaling ₹1.78 lakh crore in Davos, which are expected to create nearly 79,000 jobs. He emphasized that significant investments have been made in key sectors such as data centers, renewable energy, food processing, electric vehicles, and defense manufacturing, which have garnered interest from global investors.

Additionally, a new policy to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has been introduced, focusing on empowering entrepreneurs, enhancing their competitiveness, and improving access to both domestic and international markets. The Governor stated that Telangana is at the forefront of IT and electronics innovation, with the government aiming to expand IT hubs beyond Hyderabad to facilitate balanced regional development. Dedicated IT parks are being established to attract global companies, reinforcing Hyderabad’s position as the country’s hub for AI and data centers.

To bolster the textile sector and support power loom workers, a ₹50 crore Yarn Depot has been set up in Vemulawada, Rajanna Siricilla District. Telangana, known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and historical landmarks, has great potential to become a leading tourist destination. Recognizing this, the government has introduced the first Telangana Tourism Promotion Policy, designed to enhance infrastructure, develop lesser-known tourist routes, and promote eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and adventure tourism.

This policy will establish a clear strategy to attract both domestic and international travelers, generating new economic opportunities and creating jobs in the tourism sector. The government plans to revitalize historic monuments, improve tourist facilities, and utilize digital innovations to enrich visitor experiences, with special emphasis on developing temple tourism, tribal tourism, and wellness tourism.

The Governor also mentioned efforts to install 6,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by 2029-30 to promote clean mobility. This green energy initiative aims to enhance energy security, attract investments, and generate employment, positioning Telangana as a national leader in clean energy and climate action.

Furthermore, the government has outlined plans to reinstate the Village Revenue System, restoring the functions of revenue officers at the grassroots level. This reform will strengthen rural governance, simplify land-related services, and ensure timely land issue resolutions, correcting the course set by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi Government.
