Sunrisers Hyderabad Triumphs Over Punjab Kings in IPL 2026 Match

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad showcased an impressive performance against Punjab Kings in the 49th match of IPL 2026. After setting a formidable target of 235 runs in their innings, Hyderabad successfully restricted Punjab Kings to 202 runs, securing a victory by 33 runs.

This win propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to the top spot in the IPL 2026 standings, accumulating 14 points from 11 matches, while Punjab Kings fell to second place with 13 points.

Notably, Hyderabad achieved their 11th victory against Punjab Kings in Hyderabad, marking the second-highest number of wins for any team against an opponent at a specific venue.

Statistical Insight: Most Wins Against an Opponent at a Venue in IPL

  • 11 – MI vs KKR at Wankhede (13 matches)
  • 10 – SRH vs PBKS at Hyderabad (11 matches)*
  • 9 – KKR vs PBKS at Kolkata (15 matches)
  • 9 – CSK vs KKR at Chennai (13 matches)

In a post-match discussion, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins emphasized the commendable performance of his team. He praised the batting side for their outstanding contribution and acknowledged Punjab Kings’ position as a formidable opponent this season.

“There are a few pleasing aspects. I think Punjab are a really good side; they were number one coming into this. The batters did remarkably well to achieve what we did. It’s always challenging to bowl second against a side like that, but we were quite clinical,” Cummins stated during the post-match presentation ceremony.
