SpiceExtra.in, India’s only digital platform for the commodity dry chilli, is expanding its presence nationwide by launching dedicated chapters in key regions such as Guntur, Khammam, Warangal, and Madhya Pradesh.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Guntur SpiceExtra.in Chapter. Our aim is to establish a pan-India data network within 3-5 years to ensure high accuracy and comprehensive coverage,” said Basavaraj Hampali, Director of Innovation at Hampali Traders.
Previously focused on Karnataka, the platform is now scaling up to cover more regions. Hampali Traders, a 54-year-old dry chilli trading firm based in Hubballi, Karnataka, aims to support research and development in the dry chilli industry through the digital platform.
Launched in 2017, SpiceExtra focuses on digitizing price and arrival data, conducting crop surveys, performing assays, and branding. The platform has partnered with agronomists, software engineers, weather experts, government agencies, and media houses to establish the “SpiceExtra” platform.
Utilizing their digital product “Hukum,” which is an Intelli Software for the dry chillies business, the platform interacts with various data sources such as yield, crop, weather, and reservoir levels. The data provided by SpiceExtra is utilized by companies in the spices and oleoresin industry, seed and fertilizer companies for decision-making purposes.
The platform aims to become a leading data provider for Karnataka dry chillies, supporting companies in the spices trade, seed production, and pricing strategy. By expanding its chapters to new regions, SpiceExtra is on track to achieve its goal of creating a comprehensive and accurate data network for the dry chilli industry nationwide.
