NEW DELHI: Former Shiv Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar has generated controversy following the emergence of a viral video in which he claimed to secure more funds for his constituency than the current legislator. According to the news agency PTI, Sarvankar stated at a gathering, “The incumbent MLA receives Rs 2 crore, but even while I am not an MLA, I manage to bring in Rs 20 crore.”

When approached for clarification, Sarvankar elaborated that he was referring to the funds he successfully directs toward the Dadar-Mahim constituency, highlighting this against incumbent MLA Mahesh Sawant’s complaints about insufficient resources.

Sarvankar was a prominent figure in the 2022 rebellion, aligning himself with Eknath Shinde against former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Notably, he lost the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly election to Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Mahesh Sawant and currently heads the Siddhivinayak Trust.
