NEW DELHI: The Times Internet Half Marathon showcased impressive participation from women athletes, particularly in the under-29 10-kilometer category, which emphasized speed, determination, and emerging talent.

Leading the category, 22-year-old Shakuntala Devi finished first with a chip time of 42:31. Having been involved in running for five years, she credits her brother for introducing her to the sport and influencing her early development. Shakuntala has competed at the national level and was motivated to pursue long-distance running after her debut marathon. Her journey reflects consistent improvement and dedication.

The second place was claimed by 18-year-old Neha, who registered a chip time of 44:22. After starting her running career two years ago, Neha has a background in various sports, including cricket and handball, before shifting her focus to marathons. She mentioned her flexible approach to running, stating that she does not set rigid goals but prefers to adapt to opportunities as they arise. Neha also highlighted the memorable experience of participating in the Times Internet Half Marathon.

Sweta Sah, 26, secured third place with a matching chip time of 44:22, contributing to the category’s competitive nature. Balancing her career as a physiotherapist with rigorous training, Sah has been running for three years. She views running as a discipline that fosters progress and is preparing to tackle longer distances with an emphasis on marathon participation.

The under-29 women’s category reflected a rich blend of emerging talent and diverse aspirations, bringing together runners at various stages of their running journeys on a unified platform. Throughout the race, it became clear that, beyond mere timings and placements, the event celebrated personal intent and growth, with each runner carrying a unique story, and every finish line symbolizing a new beginning.
